Donations Behind every Olympian is an army of people whose help – whether in encouragement, parenting, coaching, funding, or friendship – has shaped their character and provided stepping-stones to Olympic success. When athletes reach that ultimate goal, they in turn profoundly influence the lives of those who have helped them – making the Olympics the celebration not of an elite few, but of a pyramid of support. “There’s thousands of people behind every single athlete that’s made it to the Olympic Games, so it’s about so much more than those athletes,” says Noelle Pikus-Pace, a member of the US Skeleton Team in Vancouver whose $5,000 sled was replaced by a stranger when it was damaged in 2005. During the next three years, our goal is to raise $118,000 to support Anthony’s quest for Olympic success. All funding will assist Anthony in maximizing his training, covering travel expenses, purchasing equipment, and enhancing his chances of qualifying for the 2014 U.S. Olympic team. YOUR support is needed! Local communities long have come through for their hometown heroes. When a Champaign, Illinois, speed skater needed to train in Europe to have a chance at making the U.S. team, the local Policeman’s Benevolent Association raised the money she needed. That skater, Bonnie Blair, would compete for the United States in four Olympics, winning five gold medals. Therefore, YOUR support is critical and through the Go for Gold Lobello campaign we hope to raise enough funding to provide Anthony the financial support to train and travel to competitions in the U.S. and abroad.
